About the event

Itineraries - pls note that order of the tours might switch depending on castles availability.

Day 1: Monday, September 30. Arrive at Munich. Airport transfer to city center hotel. Munich City/Old Town walking tour; Dirndl/lederhosen shopping; Oktoberfest dinner.

Welcome to Munich! Walk through Marienplatz square in Old Town, Viktualienmarkt, Rathaus-Glockenspiel and hear the famous clock play its tune with our local guide. Then most importantly, change into your dirndl/lederhosen and get ready for your first Oktoberfest Dinner tonight!

Included: tour by local guide; Oktoberfest Dinner or authentic German dinner.

Day 2: Tuesday, October 1. Nueuswainstein & Linderhoff via Romantic Road

Travel via Romantic Road (wonder why the name? Our guide will tell you all about it)

To see the castles that inspired Disney movies with this full day tour to the beautiful Bavarian countryside. Created by Germany's Ludwig II (also known as the Swan King), the two castles are famous for their extravagant architecture and the stories behind them.

Included: Breakfast, guided RT day tour and entry fees to the two castles

Day 3: Wednesday, October 2. Berchtesgaden, Obersalzberg & Eagle’s Nest

Today is World war II History Day. Travel across the German Alps from Munich to Obersalzberg, the quiet retreat above the market town of Berchtesgaden, and home to Hitler's infamous Eagle's Nest. There we can enjoy the panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps and grab some lunch at Grafenhöhe restaurant. Walk through the underground bunker used by Hitler and his high-ranking officers through a secret entrance. Optional visit to the NS Documentation Center to learn about the history of Munich and its involvement in the Nazi regime.

Included: Breakfast, day tour, entry fees to Eagle’s Nest and underground bunker

Day 4: Thursday, October 3. Saltzburg, Austria

Escape from the hustle and bustle of Munich and spend an entire day in Salzburg, Austria. This city is so special that it was dubbed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, filled with stunning gardens, beautiful architectural structures, quaint alleyways, and plenty more. If you didn't already know, Salzburg was the hometown of genius composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and background setting of the movie, The Sound of Music.

Included: Breakfast, RT day tour, entry fee to Salzburg Fortress (Festung Hohensalzburg).

Day 5: Friday, October 4. Dachau Memorial Site. 2nd Oktoberfest Dinner

This is an OPTINAL tour. We understand this is a heavy topic and some might not feel comfortable visiting the memorial site.

Our local expert guides those who wish to visit the site to the village of Dachau via local transportation (20 EUR PP) and learn about the history of the Nazi concentration camps; return to Munich early afternoon. Free time the rest of the evening.

Included: Breakfast and authentic German dinner (Bier Garden).

Day 6: Saturday, October 5. Breakfast at hotel; have some more beer at the airport and catch our flight home.
